15 minutes and 15 questions with… Helen

This months 15 minutes and 15 questions with… goes to Helen Morrissey. Helen has been training with WWWUK for over a year and has been a regular at the early morning sessions, even throughout the winter! What a superstar! Read below to hear about what Helen gets up to when she’s not throwing punches on Blackheath at 6am!

1. How long have you been training?

I’ve been a keen runner for about seven years but I started training with WWWUK in October 2013.

2. What do you enjoy most about training with WWWUK?

Definitely the people. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses but you are always motivated and encouraged to do better. I really look forward to catching up with people at training and Suzy and Kirsty have done a great job in building this community.

3. What are your current goals?

Running wise I want to run 10k in less than 50 minutes – I’m so close but I just need to push a little bit harder. Strength wise I would love to be able to clean and press a 14kg kettlebell.

4. What do you do outside of training?

I’m a bit of a culture vulture so love art galleries, museums, the cinema etc. I used to draw quite a lot when I was younger but got out of the habit so I want to take that up again.

5. Favourite clean meal
Mackerel with kale hash.

6. Favourite cheat meal
Fish and chips.

7. What is your favourite exercise?
I love a bit of core work so crunches and planks are my thing.

8. Most dreaded exercise?
That has to be mountain climbers – closely followed by tuck jumps.

9. What is your biggest achievement to date?
Lifting a 30kg atlas stone is definitely my biggest achievement – no-one was more surprised than me when I managed to do it.

10. Favourite sports shop?
I’m a recent convert to Sweaty Betty. They do really good discounts if you are a member and their sales are great.

11. Who inspires you?
All of the ladies at WWWUK. I never cease to be amazed at just how strong some of these women are – it’s mind blowing.

12. What does a regular day consist of?
I’m often up at 5.30am to go train at one of the WWWUK early morning sessions. Then it’s off to work. I’m a journalist and can work pretty long hours so it’s not unusual that I’ll work until 6.30pm and then need to attend an evening event for work.

13. Something you can’t live without.
I’m currently doing the WWWUK January detox and realising just how much I’m missing milk. I’ll definitely reduce the amount that I drink but I could never give it up completely.

14. If you were an animal what would you be?
I would definitely be a cat. They get spoiled rotten by their owners and get to eat and sleep all they want – not a bad life.
